The Skullcandy Oz Grom Open surfing competition returns to Lennox Head for its eighth year.
The competition is renowned for the strongest line ups across the age groups of 12’s to Pro Junior Age. A full international field is again expected as the event has attracted surfers from ten different countries in previous years. The event is broadcast live around the world and this year will have the added feature of drone cameras to add to the spectacular action. It is rated as the best Junior Competition in the world. All event divisions will be broadcast live on the Skullcandy Oz Grom Open website. Other activities running during the event include the Vissla Shapers Bay – come and watch some of the best shapers at work; interacting with the audience as they shape a board. On Sunday night of the event – budding surfing film makers will showcase their edits on the big screen at the competition site; featuring competitors in the event.
Lennox Head is located just a 20 minute drive south of Byron Bay and 10 minutes from Ballina. The Surfing competition is located right in front of the Lennox Point Hotel and in the centre of Lennox Head village. There will be food and drink and surfing gear stalls, with the Lennox Head shops and cafes just a minute or two’s walk away. Lennox Head market will be this Sunday also, located at the Community Centre just behind the main street, find local produce, arts & crafts and gifts. Enjoy the food from the local cafes and restaurants (or a beer with a view over the surfing comp), watch the surfers, stroll along the famous Seven Mile Beach or have a BBQ at the Tea Tree lake – Lake Ainsworth. ..
